*******************************

The Butterfly Pavilion, a  project of  Rusk Ranch Nature Center, is focused on kids, families and visitors to our area.

Using native species and the help of volunteers, the Butterfly Pavilion offers an interactive learning environment for area youth.  The Pavilion also helps preserve threatened species such as the Western Monarch.

School age children are offered the opportunity to observe, learn and help with the growth and nurturing of the caterpillars and butterflies.  High school age youth are offered community service experience to act as docents and helpers for butterfly workshops.

In addition, the Butterfly Pavilion is available during the visitor season as a destination activity, thereby enhancing our community, and complimenting other visitor destinations in the area such as the Oregon Caves National Monument, Kerbyville Museum and Great Cats World Park.

Visit the Butterfly Pavilion and walk with the butterflies!

Volunteers are welcome . . . Join us for this beneficial endeavor for kids!

  • 2013 Spring!

    OPEN JUNE 7th !!!!!!

Wow! Spring has sprung! Turkeys are gobbling everywhere, froggies are a huge chorus in the evening, Meadow swallows zooming around, ducks and Canadian geese on the pond, a Peregrine falcon hunting over the meadow, Blue herons stalking the river and of course deer sauntering throughout the property!

The green house is FULL of tropical milkweed in BLOOM!
We are selling these as annuals and soooo inexpensive. Call 541-287-0172 to get yours.
They attract butterflies like crazy and Monarchs can only lay eggs on milkweed.

BIGGEST NEWS: SEASON OPENING JUNE 7, 2013

NATURE FESTIVAL is shaping up and will offer lots of FREE fun for families and kids! Puppets show, frog races, dance, music, food, scavenger hunt, ....lots more!

BUTTERFLY FLYWAY PROJECT : Our volunteers come and plant a native milkweed garden at your non-sprayed location for FREE and tend it for one year. Milkweed is disappearing all over the west coast due to spraying and removal – but Monarch Butterflies cannot exist without it! So their numbers are down dramatically also. Help us feed the wild Monarch caterpillars and support this amazing native species.

KIDS FREE NATURE CAMP DAYS! Second Sundays of the month June – October 2013. Click on the Rusk Ranch Nature Center News on the left for dates.
